01/ Overview
The route
The Col du Marchairuz toboggan run in the heart of the Parc Jura Vaudois is the longest run in the Vallée de Joux, taking you on a thrilling ride through forest and clearings, with bends, gentle slopes and steeper drops.
The short descent from Col du Marchairuz begins near the Le Marchairuz, col bus stop. This Vaud mountain pass links Le Brassus and Bière. The route starts at around 1,440 m, also its highest point, and drops approximately 80 metres in elevation over just one kilometre. Initially, the toboggan run crosses open terrain before entering the forest. Open ground characterises the upper section, after which the trees grow denser.
The ride takes about 15 minutes and descends steadily without any intermediate stops. Towards the end, the forest continues to dominate as the finish at Le Brassus, Fontaine Froide draws closer. The descent ends at around 1,360 m. From Fontaine Froide, it is just under 200 m to the Le Brassus, Combe des Amburnex bus stop.
