01/ Overview
The route
Past individual farmsteads, the route follows the Alpbach stream up to the Jägglisch Horn. At an altitude of 2,257 metres, the view extends across the Rätikon and the Prättigauer Höhenweg. The following traverse leads past the Madrisa Land theme park and Schlappintobel down to Klosters.
From the St. Antönien, Platz bus stop, the route first leads through the village and past the Reformed church. Beyond Ascharina, the mountain trail soon begins to climb steeply. Settlements and meadows are left behind as the terrain becomes more open. After a good two hours, the hike reaches its highest point near the Jägglisch Horn at around 2,250 metres. A long high-level trail then continues in a steady succession of ascents and descents across pastures and through more barren mountain terrain.
The route gradually descends into the Schlappintal. Beyond Schlappin, the small Schlappinsee lies directly beside the trail and makes a suitable rest stop before the long final descent. The mountain trail then leads down the valley, in places through forest and later once again along wider tracks. The approximately eight-hour tour ends at the railway station in Klosters Platz. Covering around 23 kilometres, with some 1,400 metres of ascent and 1,600 metres of descent, this traverse requires good fitness.
