01/ Overview
The route
The winter hiking from Prodalp to the Alp Panüöl offers a spectacular view to Sarganserland and Spitzmeilen. Thanks to the southern orientation the sun can be fully enjoyed.
The start is just a few steps from the Prodalp stop. The route sets off by Prodissimo and soon leaves the houses behind. It climbs gently across open alpine pastures. The Rotenberg barbecue site lies directly beside the trail; beyond it, expansive meadows and occasional wet hollows lead across the broad upland plateau. The ascent remains steady for long stretches as the landscape gradually opens up.
In the final third, the winter hiking trail climbs more noticeably towards Alp Panüöl. The approximately 240 metres of ascent are spread over almost the entire route. The Panüöl mountain restaurant lies slightly off the route here. Panüöl is reached after around four kilometres and just over an hour. At approximately 1'800 m, this is also the highest point of the winter hike. The final metres end near the Panüöl stop.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
Winter hiking is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
