01/ Overview
The route
Unspoiled nature, stretches of forest and impressive views into the distance – all this is the ‘Randenspur’, which leads through the western Randen foothills, popular destination of Schaffhausen’s locals.
The roughly ten-kilometre trail starts at the Siblinger Randenhaus. There is no public transport stop in the immediate vicinity; the nearest stop, Siblingen, Dorf, is just over two kilometres away. Right from the start, the route climbs gently across open terrain. After almost one and a half kilometres, it reaches its highest point near Chrisling at around 880 m.
The trail then enters the forest and describes a broad loop across the Randen. Clearings and open areas alternate with longer stretches of forest, while the elevation profile remains varied: short climbs are followed by flatter sections and gentle descents. At the Zelgli barbecue site, the trail runs directly through the forest, while Talisbänkli and Mäserich lie away from the route.
The lowest point, at around 800 m, is reached in the final third. From there, the trail climbs gently once more and later passes directly by Ebenhau. After a total of just under three hours and around 240 metres of ascent, the loop ends back at the Siblinger Randenhaus.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
