Randen Weg

One-day hike in the cultivated countryside of Randen, from Schleitheim through the valley, Randental, to the highest point of Randen at 912 m. From the viewing tower, the vista encompasses the Alps as well as the Black Forest. The focal point of this hike is the impressive countryside and nature.

From the Schleitheim, Adlerstrasse bus stop, the hiking trail leads out of the village and up to the Staufenberg. Open meadows soon begin to alternate with shady stretches of forest. The route then continues through the broad Randen landscape in a gentle succession of ascents and descents. Beggingen is reached after just over two hours, with the Hobilibach accompanying the trail for a short while.

Beyond the village, the longest ascent begins. The trail enters the forest once more and steadily gains elevation. Near the highest point of the hike, at around 910 m, stands the Hagenturm. This 40-metre-high steel lattice tower was built in 1989 and is located not far from the Hage, the highest point in the canton of Schaffhausen. From here, the route leads mainly downhill, initially through extensive forest and later across more open terrain. After a total of 16 kilometres and just over four and a half hours, the hike ends in Merishausen. The Gemeindehaus bus stop is only a few steps from the finish.
