01/ Overview
The route
The network of cross-country trails in Engadin St. Moritz covers more than 230 km of stunning circuits. An excursion into the valley of Val Roseg is rewarding. The trail climbs steadily up. Soaring up to the left and right are the three thousand metre peaks of the Upper Engadin.
The 14-kilometre cross-country ski trail starts at Pontresina railway station, immediately beside the rail connection. Leaving the built-up area behind, it heads out into open terrain and climbs steadily for several kilometres. The ascent totals around 260 metres, most of it in the first half of the circuit.
About halfway along, the trail reaches its highest point near Piz Chatscheder at just under 2,000 m. From there, it leads mostly downhill, initially across open terrain and later through woodland. Short counter-climbs punctuate the return leg. In the lower section, the first houses of Pontresina draw closer again. After a total of around 14 kilometres and just under four hours, the circuit ends back at Pontresina railway station.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
