01/ Overview
The route
A family-friendly circuit from Willisau into the Willbrig Wald: a waterfall cascades along the Mühlibächli, while higher up the forest pavilion offers a place to rest before the trail returns to the old town via Hischpark.
The circuit begins in Willisau’s old town, just a few steps from the Willisau, Friedhof bus stop. Beyond the first houses, it leads to the Mühlibächli and a waterfall. At Zopfmatt, the edge of the settlement is left behind as the trail continues to Grundmühle and then towards Schwendlen.
The Willbrig Wald now shapes the character of the hike. Long sections run away from the marked hiking-trail network. The route leads via Gulpäbni to the forest pavilion, which offers a place to rest, and then continues to the Jägerhütte. Around halfway, near Salberig, the route reaches its highest point at approximately 670 m; from there, the trail descends in gentle undulations to Bleikiweid.
The route returns towards Willisau via Sottike. The forest thins out, with open meadows and the first houses lining the descent. A playground awaits in Hischpark before the route reaches Heiligblut and ends back in Willisau’s old town after a little over an hour and a half.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
