01/ Overview
The route
From Schwyz’s main square, this meadow circuit climbs via Tschütschi to Rickenbach. Views across the valley basin, chapels and a narrow meadow path characterise the return to the village centre.
The starting point for this walk of just over two hours is the main square in Schwyz, only a few steps from the Drei Könige bus stop. Passing the late-Baroque parish church of St. Martin, the route climbs between the houses. At the chapel of St. Agatha, the village gradually gives way to meadows and pastures, with a wooded section adding variety.
Higher up, views open out across the Schwyz valley basin and towards lakes and mountains. Near Adlerspitzli, the route reaches its highest point at around 730 m. It leads via Tschütschi to Klösterli St. Josef and past the chapel of the hermitage, before descending to Rickenbach.
The descent continues via Stalden and Perfiden. Standing directly on the route is the Antoniuskapelle, dating from the late 17th century. Towards the end, a narrow meadow path leads to Grundstrasse; the Pragelpass trail then returns between the houses of Schwyz to the main square.

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
