Schneeschuhtrail Curnius

Stillness, snowy landscapes, Surselva: An initial ascent from Curnius takes you through snow-covered forests, over open meadows and two wooden bridges to remote Alp Dadens – an ideal place to take a break in the warming winter sun. On the way back, there are panoramic views into Val Lumnezia, towards Ilanz and across to Obersaxen.

The six-kilometre snowshoe tour begins at the Curnius stop in Falera. The route initially climbs across open terrain. After around one and a half kilometres, it reaches its highest point near Crest da Tiarms at just over 1,800 m. This means that the main ascent is completed early on.

The circuit then descends and alternates between open slopes and forest. The tour involves around 360 metres of ascent in total, with corresponding counter-climbs to negotiate on the return leg. Open terrain characterises much of the circuit, with the stretches through the forest providing a distinct contrast. The lowest point is not reached until the final third, before the route climbs back to Curnius.

After about three hours, the circuit ends back at the starting point in Falera, Curnius. The stop of the same name is only around 100 metres away.
