01/ Overview
The route
An entertaining showshoe tour to the Tscheurig huts with a view of the end of the valley and the imposing Weisshorn. Lucky visitors can even watch chamois and ibexes on the opposite side of the valley.
The tour starts at the Thalkirch, Alte Post bus stop. In the hamlet the Reformed church with its exposed stone wall stands out; the building is protected as a cantonal monument. Soon the path leaves the last houses and leads into open terrain across wide alpine pastures. Over roughly 5 km about 400 vertical metres are to be overcome; the route requires good fitness and time, totaling just under three hours.
At the highest point, at about 2'090 m, the open slopes lie beneath the flanks of Piz Guw. The descent continues through open terrain down to the Turrahus, where the tour ends at the nearby Thalkirch, Turrahus bus stop.
