01/ Overview
The route
A short cross-country skiing circuit across the meadows of Schüpfheim, with gentle climbs and descents, unobstructed views towards Farneren and a trailhead close to the railway station.
From Schüpfheim railway station, it is only a few steps to the trailhead by the Migros in the Wolfgang part of the village. The 4.3-kilometre circuit crosses meadows in the heart of the village, yet soon leaves the houses some distance behind. Gentle climbs alternate with short descents, with views extending up towards Farneren.
The marked trail continues via Dänili towards Wolfgang Kapelle and Brüggmösli. The lowest point comes roughly one-third of the way around, after which the trail gradually climbs again. Towards the end, it reaches its highest point at around 760 m before descending gently back to the starting point. After just over an hour, the circuit finishes back at the Migros in Wolfgang; Schüpfheim railway station is around 170 m away and offers connections on the Bern–Luzern line.
