01/ Overview
The route
A short winter trail across the open Seebodenalp: passing Alp Räb and Ruodisegg, the route climbs to its highest point at around 1'120 m, with views over the sea of fog.
The Küssnacht–Seebodenalp cable car carries passengers from Küssnacht up to Seebodenalp. The signposted Seebodenalp Trail begins just a few steps from the upper station. The route initially runs gently across open alpine pastures; in clear conditions, a sea of fog lies below the slopes of the Rigi. This easy winter hike is also suitable for families.
The winter trail continues past Alp Räb with gentle ascents and descents. At the Ruodisegg alpine restaurant, it passes directly by the buildings, although refreshments cannot be relied upon. Beyond this point, the terrain remains open and the climb gradually becomes more noticeable. Rigi Rotstock lies close to the highest point.
The final section gains more height before the route reaches its destination at around 1'120 m after just over an hour. Like the starting point, the endpoint is designated as Bergstation / Parkplatz Seebodenalp. According to the route data, there is no public transport stop immediately at the destination; the Rigi Staffelhöhe stop is just under a kilometre away.

How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
