01/ Overview
The route
From desolate Alp Trida to beautiful Alp Bella; this winter hiking route, with its amazing views, leads into the midst of the Samnaun/Ischgl Silvretta Arena. Hikers will be rewarded with wonderful views of Piz Mundin, Muttler and the Ötztaler Alps.
The winter hike begins at Alp Trida, around a hundred metres from the stop of the same name. Initially, the route climbs gently through open terrain. As it gains altitude, the meadows become increasingly sparse, and rock now dominates the landscape. After around one and a half kilometres, the highest point is reached near Spatlaskopf: at just under 2'400 m, this marks the halfway point of the short circuit.
The route then descends to the Alp Bella mountain restaurant, which lies directly beside the trail. From there, short counter-ascents lead back across the broad alpine pastures. The open high plateau characterises the final section, while the rockier slopes recede once more. After around three kilometres and just over an hour, the circuit ends back at Alp Trida. The finishing point is again close to the Alp Trida stop.
