01/ Overview
The route
The Senda Sursilvana affords an insight into a whole region, one which holds many natural and cultural treasures. A high-level hike with several detours to the banks of the young Rhine.
From Oberalppass railway station, the mountain path immediately climbs to the highest point of this long hike. At around 2'160 m, near Calmut, the route through the Surselva begins. It then descends across open slopes to Milez and continues via Rueras to Sedrun.
Beyond Sedrun, Alpine pastures, stretches of woodland and villages alternate. In Acletta, the path passes directly by the Maria Immaculata chapel before reaching Disentis/Mustér. A long succession of ups and downs follows the slopes above the valley floor as far as Breil/Brigels, where Lag da Breil lies directly on the route. Mountain paths then head westwards through woodland and across open pastures. Over the full 105 kilometres, the intermediate ascents add up to around 3'300 metres of elevation gain.
After Falera, the route enters the forests near Flims, while Lake Cauma lies a little off the route. It then descends via Trin and Tamins into the Chur Rhine Valley. After Felsberg, houses and roads draw closer until the hike ends at the Chur, Gürtelstrasse stop.

Am vergangenen Freitagabend zog ein heftiges Gewitter über die Gemeinde Trun. Dabei ging ein grosser Murgang in der Val Zinzera nieder, infolgedessen ist der Wanderweg nicht mehr passierbar.
