01/ Overview
The route
This route leads you through the beautiful and open Unterägeri plain. This path through the verdant landscape with magnificent views of the Zug Oberland mountains and Ägerisee lake is a true delight.
The seven-kilometre circular trail starts in the centre of the village at the Unterägeri, Seefeld bus stop. It soon leaves the houses behind and follows yellow-waymarked hiking trails into open countryside. The Almigchappeli is the first prominent landmark directly on the route; shortly afterwards, the trail passes Restaurant Schützen. Despite the gentle contours, the surroundings remain shaped by the nearby settlements throughout.
The route climbs only moderately in a wide arc. Roughly halfway round, it reaches its highest point at around 780 m before descending gently towards the valley floor. Meadows and pastures characterise this peaceful middle section, with no long or steep climbs.
In its final third, the circular trail passes through the surroundings of Lake Ägeri. Situated at around 724 m, the lake was formed by a glacier, although the route remains some distance from the shore. The houses of Unterägeri then draw closer again. After a good hour and a half, the loop closes at the starting point, the Unterägeri, Seefeld bus stop.

How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
