01/ Overview
The route
The route from Zug to Cham leads along the shores of the Zugersee lake. A route marked by variety with it's urbane promenades, tranquil woodland and meadow sections and idyllic views of the lake.
From Bahnhofplatz Zug, the trail leads through Neustadt and past the Reformed church. The bustle of the town is soon left behind. At the lido, the surroundings open out, after which the route follows a broad hiking trail through open meadows and sparsely built-up areas. With very little climbing, the route is ideal for a leisurely walk of just under an hour and a half.
Approaching Cham, the Zugersee once again takes centre stage. Near the Sankt Andreas promontory, the walk reaches its highest point at around 430 m, barely noticeable in the almost flat terrain. Slightly off the route, the Schloss Sankt Andreas, which is not open to the public, stands on a small hill. Shortly afterwards, the trail leads directly to the shore of the Zugersee. The final section continues through peaceful surroundings characterised by green spaces as far as Cham. Cham railway station is just a few steps from the finish.

Fuss- und Radwegunterführung im Brüggli in Zug
From 15 Sept 2025 – Until 31 Mar 2027
Die Fuss- und Radwegunterführung im Brüggli in Zug aus dem Jahre 1973 wird umgebaut. Baustart ist am 15. September 2025. Mit dem Umbau werden die Treppenabgänge durch Rampen ersetzt. Somit werden der Komfort und die Sicherheit für den Velo- und Fussverkehr erhöht. Die Bauarbeiten dauern voraussichtlich bis März 2027.
