01/ Overview
The route
After a pleasant ramble alongside the Zugersee lake, you reach the first highlight – the vantage point of Michaelskreuz with restaurant and wedding chapel. Following an undulating stretch you reach Dietschiberg, where you can watch golf at close quarters.
From the station square in Zug, the route initially leads out of the city. After the first few kilometres, it reaches the shore of Lake Zug near Cham and follows it to Hünenberg-See. Settlements, open meadows and short stretches of woodland then alternate. Via Buonas and through Kirchbergwald, the trail continues to Meierskappel, where the longest ascent begins.
The route continues to gain elevation in Sonderiwald. Near Michaelskreuz, it reaches its highest point on Rooterberg at around 800 m. This marks just over halfway along the 30-kilometre route. The descent leads through Eggwald to Udligenswil, then continues across open farmland towards Adligenswil. After Zimmeriwald, Luzern draws closer. Towards the end, Lake Lucerne comes into view, and the route reaches its shore shortly before the destination. It then leads through the city to Bahnhofquai. Just under eight hours should be allowed for the entire hike, which involves around 760 metres of ascent.

Fuss- und Radwegunterführung im Brüggli in Zug
From 15 Sept 2025 – Until 31 Mar 2027
Die Fuss- und Radwegunterführung im Brüggli in Zug aus dem Jahre 1973 wird umgebaut. Baustart ist am 15. September 2025. Mit dem Umbau werden die Treppenabgänge durch Rampen ersetzt. Somit werden der Komfort und die Sicherheit für den Velo- und Fussverkehr erhöht. Die Bauarbeiten dauern voraussichtlich bis März 2027.
