01/ Overview
The route
An urban walk amid traces of village life, cooperative housing estates and industrial heritage. The circular route leads from the wooded Entlisberg down to Lake Zurich and through Wollishofen’s eventful neighbourhood history.
The “Züri z Fuess” urban walk begins just a few steps from Zürich Wollishofen railway station. Following mostly unmarked neighbourhood paths, the route leads through Wollishofen and traces its transformation from a former village into an urban district. Passing old settlement centres, school buildings and fountains, the path climbs towards Friedhof Manegg and Entlisberg. In the forest, it reaches its highest point at around 480 m.
The route then descends to the Neubühl Werkbund housing estate and continues through residential neighbourhoods whose cooperative housing estates tell part of the district’s history. Via Muggenbühl, the circuit returns to the centre of Wollishofen and passes directly by Alte Kirche Wollishofen, an Evangelical Reformed church building near Morgental.
In the final third, the route descends to Lake Zurich. The lakeshore and open meadows now shape the scenery: the walk leads across Landiwiese and Saffainsel to Rote Fabrik and over Cassiopeiasteg. From the lowest point directly beside the lake, there is a final gentle ascent back to the starting point in Wollishofen.

How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
