01/ Overview

The route

Leaving the civilisation behind and experiencing untouched nature in Tamina Valley: at the foot of Calanda this cross-country skiing trail follows Görbs River through the narrow valley into the direction of Kunkelpass.

The ten-kilometre cross-country ski trail begins in Vättis, just over 500 m from the «Vättis, Dorf» bus stop. The loop initially crosses open terrain before continuing through sections of forest. The first part climbs steadily for an extended stretch, with a total elevation gain of around 240 metres.

About halfway along, the trail reaches its highest point at around 1,100 m. Taminser Calanda is the nearest peak. The loop then descends towards the valley floor again, alternating between forest and open terrain. Towards the end, it passes directly by the Pardätsch car park before returning to the houses of Vättis. After just under three hours, the trail ends back at the starting point at around 960 m; the nearest bus stop is also just over 500 m away.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.

How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
