01/ Overview
The route
Experience untouched nature in Tamina Valley. On the versatile trail with several loops and shortcuts every cross-country skier finds a suitable challenge.
The ten-kilometre cross-country ski trail begins not far from the St. Margrethenberg, Dorf bus stop. It initially leads across wide, open terrain towards Jägeri, steadily gaining elevation. After a little over two kilometres, a mountain stream accompanies the route. The longer ascent leads close to Chemispitz and up to the highest point at around 1,340 m; by just under halfway, the greatest elevation gain has been completed.
The trail then descends again through meadows and pastures. At Buura-Beizli, it passes close to the mountain inn and, shortly afterwards, directly by the Chapel of St. Margaretha. In places, the open terrain gives way to wet meadows, while the stream continues to set the course.
In the final third, the trail curves back towards St. Margrethenberg. Shortly before the finish, it reaches its lowest point at just under 1,200 m. The loop closes at Tristeli, from where it is around 150 metres to the St. Margrethenberg, Dorf bus stop.
