01/ Overview

The route

The Walser people carried salt and flour from Juf over the Stallerberg. Rock in plenty at the Flüeseen lakes, majestic the Piz Platta, Alpine the descent into Val Faller. Tga and Alp Flix: former Walser settlements – today oases for flora and fauna in the middle of Parc Ela.

From the Avers, Juf bus stop, the mountain path leads out of the village and across open pastures to the Stallerberg. The Flüeseen lie slightly off the route. Beyond them, the terrain becomes barer and rockier. Shortly before the Fallerfurgga, the hike reaches its highest point at around 2,840 m. Piz Surpare towers above the broad pass landscape.

A long descent begins at the Fallerfurgga. The path traverses open slopes, then continues through woodland and via Tga down to Mulegns. Almost the entire route follows mountain paths marked in white-red-white; a few shorter sections are unmarked.

After the lowest point, another steep climb awaits. Via Sur, the path steadily gains height and reaches Alp Flix near Son Placi e Son Roc. After 19 kilometres and just over seven hours, the hike ends near the Sur GR Alp Flix, Tigias Hotel bus stop.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
