Winterwanderung Rossweid–Salwideli–Kemmeriboden

On the right the rugged Schrattenfluh, on the left the Brienzer Rothorn range – your constant companions on this winter hike. First from Rossweid to Salwideli, the trail then follows the Bärselbach and Emme streams to Kemmeribodenbad. The former health resort is now famous for its meringues.

The winter hike begins at the Rossweid stop at around 1,460 m, which is also the highest point on the route. From beside the Berggasthaus Rossweid, it heads straight out into open countryside. The trail initially descends gently between meadows, pastures and moorland, with short uphill sections spread across the route’s total distance of eleven kilometres.

After just over three kilometres, the Berggasthaus Salwideli stands directly on the route. Beyond it, open areas alternate with stretches of woodland, and the long descent into the valley now sets the course. In total, the route involves only around 130 metres of ascent but a good 600 metres of descent. Towards the end, the forest becomes denser before the landscape opens up again.

After a little over three and a half hours, the winter hike reaches Kemmeriboden-Bad. The Kemmeriboden stop is only a few steps from the destination, and the Restaurant Kemmeriboden Bad is also nearby.
