Wispile-Gsteig-Winterwanderweg

With the Horneggli, Eggli and Wasserngrat in view, this panoramic route takes you over meadows and past idyllic sections of forest from the Wispile down to the historic village of Gsteig at the foot of the Col du Pillon.

The approximately three-hour winter hike begins on open terrain at the Wispile mountain station. The Höhi Wispile stop is located right by the starting point. After a short ascent, the route soon reaches its highest point near Wispile at around 1,920 m. From there, the tour is characterised by the descent: it leads downhill across broad meadows and pastures, with only a few short uphill sections. Over nine kilometres, around 840 metres of elevation are lost.

For the first part of the final third, the terrain remains open. It is only on the valley floor that the first houses of Gsteig draw closer. Shortly before the village, the route follows the Rüschbach, which shows the way for the final stretch. In the built-up area, the winter hiking trail passes Restaurant Bären. A little later, it ends in Gsteig, around 150 m from the Gsteig b. Gstaad, Post stop.
