01/ Overview
The route
Between Zell and Willisau, the route crosses the little-frequented ridges of the Napf foothills, passing chapels and a mighty lime tree and leading through pastures and woodland.
From Zell railway station, the yellow-waymarked hiking trail leaves the village and enters the rolling landscape of the Napf foothills. It climbs across meadows and pastures to Stocki and continues up to Salberig. Here, open ridges alternate with short stretches of woodland, with recurring views across the Luzern hinterland.
The route continues via Oberwil and Bösegg in a gentle series of ascents and descents. Around halfway, near Fluegütsch, it reaches its highest point at approximately 800 m. It then passes Birchbüel and the pilgrimage chapel of St. Jakob, where information panels recount a legend. At Honegg stand a small chapel and an imposing lime tree. There are no restaurants along the way, but picnic spots provide opportunities to stop and enjoy provisions carried in a backpack.
After Honegg, the trail descends through pastures and woodland towards Willisau. The first houses appear at Eimatt, after which the route continues to Zehntenplatz and past the Heiligblut church. A little later, the walk of a good three and a half hours ends at Willisau railway station.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
