01/ Overview
The route
From the moated castle through the village to the winery and down to Lake Hallwil: a short circuit through vineyards, open meadows and along the lakeshore.
From the Seengen, Schloss Hallwyl bus stop, it is only a few steps to the starting point of this circuit of just under four kilometres. The important moated castle stands on two islands in the Aabach and is open to the public. The path initially climbs past the first houses of Seengen. The village centre is reached at the Reformed church; the route then continues to the Lindenmann winery, which has its own cellar and shop. Shortly afterwards, the highest point is reached at around 480 m.
The path then descends out of the village towards Lake Hallwil. Schloss Brestenberg, a Baroque country residence of the Lords of Hallwyl, lies slightly off the route. The path leads down to the water between open meadows and the last houses. Lake Hallwil lies in the Seetal valley and is traversed by the Aabach. The circuit now follows the shore northwards. Towards the end, the view opens up once more towards Schloss Hallwyl, before the route ends back at the starting point and the nearby Seengen, Schloss Hallwyl bus stop.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
