01/ Overview
The route
Experience seven peaks on one tour. The mountain railway makes the climbs a little easier. This leaves you enough time and leisure to enjoy the unique views over the St. Gallen, Grison, Glarus and Central Swiss mountain kingdom.
From Maschgenkamm, the mountain trail initially leads across open high ground to Ziger and then continues to the 2,222 m Leist. The opening section alone includes several short ascents and descents. The route then climbs to Mütschüelergulmen. At around 2,316 m, it is the highest point of the hike. Up to this point, the route is characterised by a white-red-white waymarked mountain trail and expansive pastures.
Beyond the summit, the steady succession of ascents and descents continues over ridges and saddles. Despite finishing at a lower elevation, the tour accumulates around 880 metres of ascent. Towards the end of the long high-level section, Heusee lies directly beside the trail. From there, the route becomes easier and descends on a broader hiking trail. After a total of 15 kilometres and just over five and a half hours, the hike ends at Tannenbodenalp; the Flumserberg, Tannenboden Dorf stop is only a few steps away.
