Quinten Seeweg

The ramble from Walenstadt to Quinten beneath the mighty Churfisten mountains commands magnificent views of the Walensee. As the route follows the southern slopes, it is also very popular during the colder seasons.

From Walenstadt railway station, the approximately eleven-kilometre hike first leads through the village, soon emerging into a landscape of alternating woodland and open meadows. The trail climbs steadily. With around 540 metres of ascent, the climb is noticeable but spread over the first half of the nearly three-and-a-half-hour hike.

About halfway along, the route reaches its highest point at around 840 m. Here its character changes: the hiking trail becomes a mountain hiking trail, descending towards the lake through extensive woodland. Open sections provide variety along the way. After the long descent, the route runs close to Lake Walen.

The trail approaches Quinten via Au. Shortly before the destination, the Knüsel barbecue site lies close to the route; in the village, the trail passes St. Bernhard Chapel. Finally, the hike ends directly on the shore at the Quinten stop. Here, Lake Walen provides a tranquil finale.
