WALSA-Weg, Stage 3/4

The Flumserberg, considered the centrepiece of Heidiland, enjoys long hours of sunshine and magnificent views of the Churfisten mountain range and Lake Walen. The initial section is followed by a mule track through rocks and roots. Once you reach Chnobelboden, hike along the west-facing slope through open terrain studded with houses and bustling with agricultural activity.

The approximately ten-kilometre hike begins at the Flumserberg, Bergheim bus stop. Initially, the hiking trail climbs gently through meadows and pastures. After just over a kilometre, the highest point is already reached at around 1,070 m, amid the wooded surroundings of Aulinachopf. From there, the route heads downhill: the trail enters the forest and steadily loses elevation.

In Oberterzen, the route passes St. Anna Chapel and Restaurant Gemsli. Between the houses, the scenery shifts from forest to villages and open slopes. Farther down, the route reaches Quarten; the Church of St. Gallus stands a little way off the trail. Towards the end, views open up over Walensee, whose main inflow and outflow is the Linth.

The final descent leads through the residential area to around 430 m. After just under three hours, the hike ends at the Murg bus stop.
