01/ Overview
The route
Two medieval castles, hidden sandstone caves and the Aabach shape the route from Teufenthal across the wooded heights near Seon to Lenzburg’s old town.
The Castle and Culture Trail, taking just over three and a half hours, begins at Teufenthal railway station. After only a short ascent, Trostburg stands on its rocky spur above the village. The medieval complex is privately owned and not open to the public. The hiking trail continues to Schloss Liebegg, whose origins likewise date back to the Middle Ages; one of its towers houses the Witch Museum. A little farther on, the sandstone caves lie directly beside the trail.
The route then alternates between woodland, fields and small settlements. Via Refenthal, the trail climbs to its highest point at around 580 m, near Sunnehübel. The gentle ridge remains wooded before the route descends to Seon, passing almost directly by the village church.
For the final third of the hike, the route follows the Aabach. Beside the water, it continues along the Industrial Heritage Trail towards Lenzburg, eventually reaching the historic old town. From there, the final stretch leads through the built-up area to Lenzburg railway station.

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
