01/ Overview
The route
An almost level circuit through the Tscharnergut neighbourhood, passing a playground and church before crossing an open meadow back to the Blumenfeld stop.
From the Bern, Blumenfeld stop, it is only a few steps to the start of this short circuit in the Riedern neighbourhood. Waymarked by the Bern Sports Office, the mini circuit initially leads through the Tscharnergut residential area. Along the way, the Träffpunkt meeting place and the Kita Tscharnergut daycare centre playground lie directly on the route.
With virtually no ascent, the route continues to the Church of St Mauritius. The present-day parish church belongs to the Roman Catholic parish founded in 1969 and replaced an earlier church on the same site. Beyond it, a meadow opens up between the buildings; even the highest point, at around 560 m, is barely noticeable. Without linking up with the marked hiking-trail network, the circuit crosses the open ground and returns to the neighbourhood. After just over one kilometre and around 20 minutes, it finishes back at the Bern, Blumenfeld stop.
