01/ Overview
The route
A wooded circuit with gentle elevation changes: from its highest point near Gschuntnehubel, the Bremer Loop leads through woodland and across open ground back to Riedern.
The Bremer Loop – Orange Route starts in Riedern, away from public transport; the Bern, Melchiorstrasse stop is around 500 m away. Signposted as a running route by the City of Bern’s Sports Office, the circuit can also be completed as a hike of just under two hours. Right at the start, the route reaches its highest point near Gschuntnehubel at around 560 m. It then descends through predominantly wooded terrain.
The first quarter runs outside the marked hiking trail network. The circuit later joins a yellow-marked hiking trail and, after just over 3 km, reaches its lowest point at just under 500 m. From there, it leads gently uphill on the return leg, with meadows and open ground appearing time and again between the wooded sections. Towards the end, the route approaches the houses of Bethlehem, although the church and restaurants lie slightly off the route. After just over seven kilometres, the circuit closes back in Riedern.

How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
