01/ Overview
The route
A long, wooded circuit on the outskirts of Bern: gentle undulations and the Gschuntnehubel characterise the waymarked Route Pink.
The starting point is Riedern; the nearest public transport stop, Bern, Melchiorstrasse, is around 500 m away. The waymarked Route Pink initially leads through a residential area and soon enters the forest. The opening section descends gently to just under 500 m, followed by a long, barely perceptible climb. The circuit is part of an urban running route, but can equally be completed as a hike of just over four hours. Yellow-waymarked hiking trails alternate with sections outside the official hiking trail network.
About halfway around, the trail reaches the wooded Gschuntnehubel. Shortly afterwards, at around 565 m, is the highest point of the tour. There are no major climbs, but the gentle undulations add up over a good 17 km. The route then continues through the forest, skirts the houses again towards the end and returns to Riedern.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
