Alpine Panorama Trail, Stage 17/29

From the wide Aaretal over the Belpberg, standing in the landscape like a huge island, into Gürbetal vegetable country and up the Längenberg to the impressive ruins of Rüeggisberg Monastery. Repeated spectacular views of the Bernese Alps.

From Münsingen railway station, the yellow-waymarked hiking trail initially leads out of the village and briefly follows the Innere Giesse. It then climbs across meadows and through woodland onto the Belpberg. This elongated ridge rises between the Aare and Gürbe valleys; the route continues via Hinter Chlapf and Hofstetten to Toffen.

After the village, the trail follows the Tuftere for a short stretch before the longest ascent begins. The route steadily gains altitude via Obertoffen and through the Rattenholz. Open meadows alternate with sections of woodland, and the barbecue area offers an opportunity for a break. Near Bütschelegg, the trail reaches its highest point at around 980 metres.

The trail then descends towards Rüeggisberg. Shortly before the destination, a viewpoint slightly off the route looks towards the Bernese Oberland. After around 19 kilometres and just over six hours, the hike ends at the Rüeggisberg, Post bus stop.
