01/ Overview
The route
A short, almost level circuit through the Wittigkofen neighbourhood and across open meadows – ideal for a half-hour walk on the outskirts of Bern.
It is just under 300 m from the Bern, Egghölzli stop to the start near Schloss Wittigkofen. The country estate belongs to the municipality of Bern. This is where the BärnParcours Wittigkofen begins, a signposted urban running route that is equally suitable as a short walk. Between the neighbourhood’s houses, the path remains almost level and leads towards the centre of Wittigkofen.
Beyond the residential area, the route emerges onto meadows and open ground. With no significant ascent, it continues to its highest point at around 560 m; the Ostermundigeberg lies in the wider surroundings. The circuit then descends only slightly, reaches the first houses again and turns back towards Egghölzli. After around two kilometres and about half an hour, it ends back at the starting point near Schloss Wittigkofen; the Bern, Egghölzli stop is again just under 300 m away.
