01/ Overview
The route
A short woodland loop near Herrenschwanden: the blue-signposted route runs through the Bremgartenwald with barely noticeable gradients and is ideal for a walk of around 40 minutes.
The loop begins at the eastern starting point in Herrenschwanden, in the heart of the Bremgartenwald. The nearest public transport stop, Bern, Lindenhofspital, is around 650 m away. The hike follows the blue-signposted running route maintained by the Bern Sports Department, initially leading through the forest on a waymarked hiking trail.
After just a few minutes, the path climbs gently to the highest point at around 570 m. The Gschuntnehubel lies about 200 m off the route, which does not lead to its summit. The route then leaves the waymarked hiking trail network for a good stretch but remains almost level and entirely within the forest. In the second half, the loop rejoins the hiking trail and continues back through the trees without any significant climbs. After just over two kilometres and approximately 40 minutes, it ends back at the eastern starting point in Herrenschwanden.

How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
