Alpine Passes Trail, Stage 3/43

This hike starts from the Walser settlement of Alp Flix amid high moorland, taking you out of Parc Ela. After the former manganese mining area near Parsettens, you follow a lovely high-level path below the peak of Pizza Grossa. A gravel road descends to Savognin and back into the country's largest nature park.

From the Sur GR Alp Flix, Tigias Hotel bus stop, the mountain trail sets off across the open expanses of Alp Flix. Scattered houses line the trail at Tgalucas and Cuorts; shortly afterwards, the long ascent towards Falotta begins. Above the alpine pastures, the terrain becomes rockier. Near Piz Colm, the route reaches its highest point at around 2,470 m without touching the summit itself.

The white-red-white waymarked mountain trail continues over Pass Parsettens through open, increasingly barren terrain. The elevation profile then tips decidedly downwards: the remaining kilometres are dominated by the descent, totalling around 1,750 vertical metres. The rocky, open uplands gradually give way to forest as the trail continues steadily downhill.

Towards the end, the first houses of Savognin come into view. The village has already been reached by Restaurant Arpaci; a few minutes later, the mountain hike of a good six and a half hours ends near the Savognin, scola/Skischule bus stop.
