01/ Overview
The route
From Lake Lucerne, the mountain trail leads to dinosaur tracks and beneath imposing rock faces through the Risletenschlucht. Woodland, open meadows and the boat trip from Treib characterise this varied lakeside hike.
The starting point is just a few steps from the Beckenried, Post bus stop. The trail leaves the village and follows the shore of Lake Lucerne. At the Risleten rocks, ancient dinosaur tracks in the stone offer an unusual glimpse into the past; the Risleten climbing area is also located here.
The route then enters the Risletenschlucht beneath striking rock faces. After the gorge, a short, steep ascent follows, now on a mountain trail. When it rains, the gorge carries a particularly large volume of water, and the woodland path can be slippery. Sturdy footwear is therefore advisable. Alternating between woodland and open meadows, the trail climbs to its highest point at around 700 m.
The route continues towards Schwybogen with constant ascents and descents. Later, the trail descends through the forest to Volligen and returns to the lakeshore. The final stretch leads to Treib, where the valley station is close to the destination. The boat is a convenient option for the return journey to Beckenried.

How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
