01/ Overview
The route
From Klewenalp, this delightful high-level route crosses open alpine pastures and the Sätteli before descending to the pilgrimage village of Niederrickenbach, with Brisenhaus and Pilgerhaus providing culinary stops along the way.
The cable car carries hikers from Beckenried to Klewenalp, where the culinary hike begins at around 1,600 m. The trail winds between the buildings, passes Klewenkapelle and emerges onto open alpine pastures. The cone-shaped Klewenstock towers above the first section of the route; Brisenhaus, serving aperitif platters and its regionally renowned cake, provides the first refreshment stop.
The trail then climbs gently at first, followed by a steeper ascent on a mountain path. By the Sätteli, almost all the elevation has been gained. Shortly afterwards, near Schinberg at around 1,770 m, the route reaches its highest point. Pastures and open mountain terrain shape the surrounding scenery.
The long descent towards Niederrickenbach now follows. The mountain path drops quickly across alpine pastures before the first houses of the pilgrimage village come into view. Lunch with dessert is served at Pilgerhaus. A short while later, the hike of just over three hours ends at Niederrickenbach Dorf station, from where the cable car descends to Dallenwil.
