01/ Overview
The route
From Klewenalp, the family-friendly hiking trail descends across alpine pastures and through forest to Stockhütte. The Klewenkapelle, Ängibach and barbecue sites provide highlights along the way.
The Beckenried–Klewenalp cable car takes hikers to the starting point at the Klewenalp upper station. Right at the start, the hiking trail passes the Klewenkapelle. Below the cone-shaped Klewenstock, the route reaches its highest point at just under 1'600 m.
The trail then continues towards Stafel and Ängi across open alpine pastures, with only a few short uphill sections. This family hike of just over five kilometres gradually loses elevation. For families with pushchairs, a sports model is recommended. Several barbecue sites along the way provide places to rest. At Ängi, the trail follows the Ängibach for a short stretch; wet meadows and pastures characterise the surroundings here.
The forest grows denser as the descent continues. Shortly before the destination, the Alpgädeli lies directly on the route, before the first houses of Stockhütte come into view. After just under two hours, the hike ends at the Stockhütte upper station at around 1'280 m; from here, the gondola descends into the valley.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
