01/ Overview
The route
From Stollen, the view sweeps across Lake Lucerne before the trail descends between alpine pastures and forest to Stockhütte.
The cable car from Beckenried takes hikers to the Klewenalp upper station, where the tour of just under two hours begins. Near the Klewen Chapel, the trail leaves the alp and climbs below the striking Klewenstock. Between pastures and forest, it narrows and follows a mountain trail for some distance.
After around one and a half kilometres, the route reaches its highest point at just over 1,670 m. A little further on, the Stollen viewpoint lies directly beside the trail, with Lake Lucerne spread out far below. The hiking trail then descends steadily via Gottfried-Stutz towards Twäregg. Sections of forest alternate with open alpine pastures as the route rapidly loses altitude.
In the final third, the trail widens again and enters the forest once more. Shortly before the destination, it passes Alpgädeli. A little further on, the first houses of Stockhütte appear beside the trail, and after just over four kilometres the Stockhütte upper station is reached.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
