01/ Overview
The route
«Stunning» must be the most apt description for this route. Located at the heart of Central Switzerland, high above the picturesque Vierwaldstättersee (Lake Lucerne) and with the best views of the Alpine peaks, the Bürgenstock leaves nothing to be desired.
The roughly four-kilometre circular route begins right by the Bürgenstock Resort bus stop. Shortly after the start, the hiking trail passes Taverne 1879 and the Bürgenstock Chapel. The houses are soon left behind, with open meadows initially dominating the scenery. With only gentle gradients, the route continues towards Trogen and around the wooded slopes of the Bürgenberg.
About halfway round, the trail reaches its highest point at around 910 metres. The ascent is barely noticeable, as there are only about 60 metres of elevation gain in total. Shortly afterwards, Villa Honegg comes into view; the trail passes directly by it before heading deeper into the forest. It then loops quietly back to the first houses of the resort. After just over an hour, the circuit closes at Bürgenstock Resort, a few steps from the bus stop of the same name.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
