01/ Overview
The route
On Lake Lucerne, this short educational trail combines open slopes with traditional fruit varieties. From Seehotel Baumgarten, it climbs gently before returning to the Kehrsiten-Dorf boat landing.
The fruit trail begins at Seehotel Baumgarten, directly on Lake Lucerne. Between the lakeshore and the slopes of the Bürgenstock, the focus is on traditional fruit varieties. These include ProSpecieRara fruit varieties as well as endangered cultivated plants typical of the area. The Kehrsiten-Dorf boat landing is only a few minutes’ walk from the starting point; access by car from Stansstad, however, requires a permit.
Initially, the route climbs through open terrain away from the marked hiking trail network. At Kehrsiten and Schwand, it continues along the mountain hiking trail. After just over one kilometre, the highest point is reached at around 530 m. The path then descends towards the lake again, passing at some distance from the Maria in Linden church. After almost two kilometres and just over half an hour, the educational trail ends at the Kehrsiten-Dorf boat landing.

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
