01/ Overview
The route
From Lake Lucerne, the path climbs through orchards and forest to Bürgenstock. The short but strenuous hike ascends to the resort via the steep Tritt, a suspension bridge and a suspended staircase.
The ascent begins at the Kehrsiten-Dorf boat landing, just a few steps from Lake Lucerne. The route passes Maria in Linden and climbs between the houses. Those wishing to stop for a meal before the ascent can reach Seehotel Baumgarten via a short detour; fish meunière is served there.
Beyond the village, fruit trees stretch across the open slopes before the path enters the forest. At the Tritt, the mountain trail, marked predominantly white-red-white, becomes increasingly steep. A suspension bridge and the suspended staircase provide striking highlights on the long ascent, which gains around 450 metres in elevation over just over three kilometres.
Higher up, the forest begins to thin and the first houses of Bürgenstock draw closer. At Bürgenstock Resort, the route reaches its highest point at around 870 m. The Bürgenstock Resort bus stop is right by the finish; for the return journey, the funicular descends to the lake.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
