01/ Overview
The route
Via the north wall to the other shore and the Bürgenstock cliff path, which as an Alpine promenade, afforded well-heeled ladies and gentlemen a view back to the city of Lucerne. Past the pilgrimage site of St Jost along the shore at Ennetburgen, Buochs and Beckenried.
From the Bürgenstock, Zentrum bus stop, the 13-kilometre route initially follows a broad hiking trail. Before long, the mountain trail climbs more steeply through woodland and across open meadows. After just over two kilometres, the highest point is reached at around 1'080 m. Shortly afterwards, Chänzeli is a worthwhile place to pause before the long descent begins.
Passing St. Jost, the trail steadily loses altitude between stretches of woodland and pasture. At Weingärtli, the mountain trail becomes an easier hiking trail again; settlements draw closer, and after around eight kilometres the route reaches the shore of Lake Lucerne. Meadows and built-up sections then alternate. Towards the end, the trail passes the Ridli pilgrimage chapel and continues to Beckenried. After just under four hours, the hike ends directly by the Beckenried, Post bus stop.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
