01/ Overview

The route

Enjoy the view over La Gruyère on this winter hike between La Berra and the Crête du Cousimbert. On this hike, you can admire the magnificent view over the region, the lake and the Fribourg Pre-Alps.

The winter hike starts at the La Berra stop, at the highest point of the circuit, around 1,640 m above sea level. Instead of continuing to the summit of La Berra, which lies off the route, it initially descends gently across open terrain. Meadows and pastures dominate the scenery for much of this short loop.

After the lowest point, the route climbs again and reaches Le Cousimbert, known in German as Käsenberg. The 1,632 m mountain lies north of La Berra in the municipality of La Roche. From there, the loop continues across the open heights of the Fribourg Pre-Alps. After a total of four kilometres and around 130 metres of ascent, the winter hike of just over an hour ends back at the La Berra stop, directly at the starting point.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • Winter hiking is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.

How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
