Seerundweg Schwarzsee

Surrounded by limestone mountains with sheer faces, the route encircles the romantic Schwarzsee. When the layer of ice is thick enough, you are officially permitted to venture onto the lake. A unique experience for winter walkers!

The winter hike starts beside Schwarzsee, directly at the Schwarzsee, Gypsera bus stop. The signposted winter hiking trail initially leads out of the village, staying close to the shore. Alternating between open terrain and short stretches of woodland, the lake, which covers around 0.5 square kilometres, remains a constant presence. A good hour should be allowed for the four-kilometre circuit, which has hardly any significant climbs.

Around halfway along, the route reaches its highest point at approximately 1'070 m. It then continues without any prolonged ascent, partly through woodland and partly across open terrain beside the lake. Near the end, the wildlife observation and viewing tower stands directly beside the route. From there, the view opens out across the water and the shoreline of the Fribourg Pre-Alps. The final section once again follows the lake before the first houses of Schwarzsee appear and the winter hiking trail ends back at the Schwarzsee, Gypsera bus stop.
