01/ Overview
The route
At just under five kilometres in length, the FIS–Rennloipe in Ulrichen will have you feeling like a cross-country pro. This trail gives ambitious skiers a true taste of the competitive spirit. This shaded trail combines sharp ascents with challenging descents.
The starting point of the four-kilometre trail is in Ulrichen, away from public transport. The nearest stop, «Ulrichen, Kirche», is around 700 metres away. From the village, the circuit heads out into open terrain and initially climbs steadily. After almost two kilometres, it reaches its highest point at around 1'400 m.
The trail then turns back towards Ulrichen and gradually loses altitude. Geschinersee lies in the wider surroundings, but the circuit does not reach its shore. The route covers around 160 metres of elevation gain in total and takes a good one and a quarter hours. Towards the end, the trail descends to around 1'340 m before returning to the village. A bistro is located near the finish, before the circuit ends at its starting point in Ulrichen.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
