01/ Overview
The route
Go gliding through the Ursern Valley with the rushing Reuss always at your side: This circular route through an imposing high-lying valley takes you past the heritage-protected Hospental and the smallest village of Switzerland.
The 18-kilometre cross-country ski trail begins at the Andermatt, The Nordic House stop. It leaves the houses of Andermatt behind and crosses the open expanses of the Urserntal. With around 340 metres of ascent, the circuit is not entirely flat; long, gentle climbs and descents set the rhythm.
Around Hospental, the valley floor remains open. Away from the route stands the tower of the Lords of Hospental, while the trail continues up the valley. Before Realp, it reaches its highest point at around 1,550 m. Shortly afterwards, it passes the Furka Steam Railway before reaching the houses of Realp at about the halfway point.
From Realp, the trail turns back towards Andermatt. The return leg also remains gently undulating. Once again, broad meadows and pastures characterise the valley floor; around Hospental, the houses draw closer. After just under five hours, the circuit ends where it began: at the Nordic House, a few steps from the stop of the same name.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
