01/ Overview
The route
There is often hoar frost on the snow and the bushes beside the Rhine – so this trail offers you a very special experience of Nature as well as lots of sporting fun. Some striking buildings along the way are Putnengia castle and the Vorderrhein hydroelectric power station.
The start of the 14-kilometre cross-country ski trail is just a few steps from the Sedrun, Tgèsa Communala stop. It initially leads through Sedrun and out across the open expanses of the Vorderrhein valley. After the first houses, the route passes through Rueras; a little later, the ruins of Pontaningen Castle come into view nearby. The steady ascent brings the trail to its highest point near Nual, at around 1,420 m above sea level.
The circuit then descends again, though it is not entirely flat. It sweeps in a wide arc across meadows and pastures back towards Sedrun; together with the initial climb, the short counter-ascents add up to around 320 metres of elevation gain. Towards the end, the village houses draw closer once more. The trail reaches the church of Sogn Vigeli and ends back in Sedrun after just under four hours, a few steps from the Tgèsa Communala stop.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
