01/ Overview
The route
Historic traces of Flühli’s glassblowers, the Chessiloch gorge and a steep mountain trail to the Teufimattsattel define this challenging hike from Flühli to Sörenberg.
From the Flühli Post bus stop, the Glassmakers’ Trail leads out of the village and follows in the footsteps of the glassblowers who settled here in 1768. Information panels recount the history of glassmaking in the Egglenen and the high consumption of timber, which left visible scars on the landscape. The route crosses the Thorbachbrücke to the Waldemme and continues towards the Chessiloch gorge; a detour leads to the Chessiloch waterfall.
After the suspension bridge, the mountain trail becomes steep and rocky. It winds through forest and across open pastures, passing Kragen as well as a lime mill and a sulphur spring. In the Sattelschlucht, the long final ascent leads to the highest point at just under 1,800 m, immediately before the Teufimattsattel.
From the saddle, the route descends to Alp Satz and finally reaches the first houses of Sörenberg. Shortly before the destination, the Bäckerstube lies directly on the route; a few steps later, the trail ends at the Sörenberg Post bus stop.

How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
